This tiny cube clock timer is such a great design. It is small and compact, and is easy to use and program. Literally the only thing that holds this back is that the clock does not have am/pm designations. It runs on military time. That is such a simple function to have so it is so weird that this does not have it. The dock works well as it is a magnetic charging clip, but the four buttons up front do nothing but light up orange, green, blue, and red. And they make clicking sounds. They are probably there for ASMR effects. But overall it works well and looks great on the desk or countertop.
I'm in love with this smart looking gadget!
The cube itself serves a few basic functions but the design and build is very satisfying to interact with. Using an app on your phone can distract you leading to more phone use while you are working. But the tick time is very tactile and cuts the phone out of the equation all together.
It has timer, pomodoro (which they've called tick time), alarm and clock features. What makes interacting with the device so fun is that you have to pick it up and tilt or rotate it to activate different functions.
For example of you want to start a quick timer you simply rotate it so that the desired time is facing upwards. When you rotate it, the circular screen physically rotates to remain upright which is hugely satisfying. They could have used the accelerometer to rotate the display digitally but that wouldn't have been anywhere near as cool! It also has a beefy vibration motor in it which gives you feedback when you change functions or when an alarm or timer completes. It also has a speaker if you prefer that over vibration.
The battery lasts several days (maybe even up to a week?) and I haven't had it run out yet as I like to keep it on my desk on top of the charging dock. You don't need the dock to charge the device but they look nice when used together. I take the cube into the office some days and leave the dock at home.
Others have pointed out that the buttons on the dock don't actually do anything which is true. They are listed in the instruction manual as "decorative buttons" which is accurate. They do light up and have an extremely satisfying click. They almost act as a bit of a fidget toy. I was going to point this out as a negative but honestly in my few weeks of using the timer I've come to really like clicking the buttons and once again it actually stops me from reaching for my phone.
The device itself is made out of high quality plastic and feels and looks premium. It just looks great on my desk and has a nice techy feeling to it. If you like the way it looks and need a handy time keeper I think it's worth the price.
Perfect balance between design and function.
Feels solid and well-built.
